First Rib’e Lugá decision letters issued; registration period extended

Willemstad – The first three decision letters under the Rib’e Lugá program were issued on July 30, 2026. The decision letters were granted to three minor siblings. This first issuance marks an important milestone within the program.

On behalf of Minister Hato, the decision letters were presented by Ms. Saran Magdalena Inderson, Chief of Cabinet of the Ministry of Justice. The presentation took place in the presence of Ms. Jennyfer Suares, Head of Policy and Legal Affairs at the Admission Office; Mr. René Eisden, Head of the Admission and Residence Department at the Admission Office; Ms. Kishara Kroon, Project Manager of Rib’e Lugá; and Ms. Elsa Penny, Mobile Judicial Family Supervision Officer.

In accordance with Minister Hato’s policy, Rib’e Lugá gives priority to minors. For this reason, the applications of these three minor siblings were processed first.

In addition to this first issuance, the registration period for Rib’e Lugá will also be extended. The extension follows the continued interest in the program and the need to provide additional time for eligible persons to complete their registration. The new closing date for the registration period will be announced through Rib’e Lugá’s official communication channels.

During the extended registration period, eligible persons will continue to be able to register directly through www.ribeluga.cw. No intermediary is required to submit a registration. In addition, new registration days will be organized at the Admission Office, and registration sessions will be held in various neighbourhoods to ensure that assistance is available closer to the target group.

Appointments for registration assistance can also be scheduled through the Rib’e Lugá website.

“The fact that the first decision letters have been issued to minors reflects the priority that Rib’e Lugá gives to this group. With the extension of the registration period, we will continue to focus on providing information, guidance, and accessible registration opportunities for persons who qualify under Rib’e Lugá,” Rib’e Lugá stated.

Rib’e Lugá is a temporary registration and regularization program for undocumented persons residing in Curaçao who, provided they meet the applicable requirements, may qualify for a temporary residence permit. In addition to registration and regularization, the programme also contributes to a better understanding of the size, circumstances, and characteristics of this population group. This information is essential for the further development of a future-oriented migration policy for Curaçao.

Rib’e Lugá encourages all persons who qualify for the program to make full use of the extended registration period, obtain the necessary information in a timely manner, and submit their registration as soon as possible.
