Website and registration portal of the Rib’e Lugá program lanched

Willemstad – The Ministry of Justice, in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development, Labor & Welfare, announces that the website and integrated registration portal for the Rib’e Lugá program was officially launched on May 1, 2026.

The Rib’e Lugá program is a temporary registration and legalization initiative. It offers undocumented individuals in Curaçao the opportunity to apply for a temporary residence permit.

Through this initiative, the government aims to gain better insight into undocumented persons in Curaçao and contribute to a more structured and future-oriented migration policy.

Minister of Justice Shalten Hato emphasizes:

“With Rib’e Lugá, we are taking an important step toward greater order and clarity, but above all, humanity. We are giving people who are already part of our society the opportunity to regularize their situation in a fair and transparent way. With the launch of the website, we are also making the process accessible to everyone. We are pleased to see that just minutes after the website went live, there was already significant interest in the legalization program.”

To qualify, individuals must be able to demonstrate that they were present in Curaçao before November 13, 2025, and that they are still residing here. Additional conditions also apply.

Persons who qualify can register via www.ribeluga.cw. This website contains all the information needed to submit an application independently, including the requirements, necessary documents, and the steps in the process. The information is available in four languages to ensure accessibility for a broad audience.

Registration is possible under three residence purposes:

  • Employment;
  • Own business / self-employment;
  • Family reunification or family formation.

The ministries invite everyone who meets the conditions to register. The process has been designed to be simple, with special attention given to undocumented children, and registration can be completed without fear.

For people who need assistance with registration, support is available through several so-called “Trusted Partners.” These organizations will provide free guidance during the registration process.

For this reason, it is not necessary to use intermediaries to submit an application. Registration takes place directly through the official website and is entirely online.
