Are you planning to live and work in Curaçao?

There are several ways to do this.

You can join a company or you can start your own company.

If you are employed by a company, you will first need an employment permit before submitting the application for a residence permit. Your employer must apply for the employment permit. The application for the residence permit can only be submitted upon receipt of a positive decision on the application for the employment permit.

If you want to start up an own company, you need a business permit and a residence permit. You must then submit an application to the Ministry of Economic Affairs for the business permit. After receiving the business permit, you must register the company with the Chamber of Commerce and in the Labor Register. After this, the application for the residence permit can be submitted.

An application for renewal can be submitted from 4 months before the expiry date.

CHANGE

Has there been a change in your situation and you are now going to work?
Then you have 6 weeks to submit a change application.

SUBMITTING THE APPLICATION

Before submitting the application, make sure you have collected all the requirements. If so, the application can be submitted. All requirements must be scanned in PDF format. Click here to submit the application.

DECIDING ON YOUR APPLICATION

After the application has been submitted, the Admission Office has 4 months to take a decision on your application. You must await the decision on a first application abroad. After the decision is ready, it will be e-mailed to you.

If you have received a positive decision, you must make an appointment to receive the residence permit. Click here to make the appointment.

If you have received a negative decision, you then have 6 weeks to submit a notice of objection. The notice of objection must be e-mailed to info@immigrationcur.org.

Employee

FIRST APPLICATION

Are you going to submit a first application with the purpose of worker/employee?

Here you will find the requirements for submitting a first application with the purpose of employment.

• Proof of payment Fees & Retributions⁰ (show original for inspection);
• Copy of valid passport (if several nationalities, copy of all passports);
• Copy of birth certificate¹ (not older than 1 year). Show original for inspection;
• Criminal background check from the last place of residence (not older than 3 months). Submit original;
• Copy valid employment permit;
• Copy extract from the Chamber of Commerce (not older than 6 months) of employer;
• Copy of the labor registration;
• Original employer’s declaration, completed and signed by employer with a copy of valid identification document of employer²;
• If employer is a sole proprietor or private person, you must submit an original statement from the Tax Inspectorate of a fixed taxable income of at least Ang. 36.000, = from 2 years ago;
• Original guarantee declaration³, fully completed and signed by employer with an adhesive stamp of Ang. 10,= ; 
• Copy business permit;
• Copy director’s permit;
• Copy SVB-registration of the company;
• CRIB-number (Tax Registration Number) of the company

COSTS

Fees and retributions are due before submitting the application. For the first application, you have to pay an amount of Ang. 655,=. Payment must be made at Maduro & Curiel’s Bank. On the payment order, you can find the necessary information to make the payment.

RENEWAL

Do you have a residence permit with the purpose of employment that needs to be renewed?

• Copy current permit.
• Employee’s CRIB-number (Tax Registration Number);
• Copy valid employment permit or Proof of application and Proof of payment;
• Original Employer’s Declaration, fully completed and signed by employer with a valid copy of identification document of employer²;
• If employer is a sole proprietor or private person, you must submit an original statement from the Tax Inspectorate of a fixed taxable income of at least Ang. 36.000, = from 2 years ago;
• Original guarantee declaration³, fully completed and signed by employer with an adhesive stamp of Ang. 10, =

Fees and retributions are due before submitting the application. For the first application, you have to pay an amount of Ang. 615,=. Payment must be made at Maduro & Curiel’s Bank. On the payment order, you can find the necessary information to make the payment.

CHANGE

Change of employer

Has there been a change of employer?

Then you have to submit the following documents:

• Proof of payment Fees & Retributions⁰ (show original for inspection);
• Copy of valid passport (if several nationalities, copy of all passports);
• Copy current permit.
• Copy valid employment permit or proof of application and proof of payment;
• Copy extract from the Chamber of Commerce (not older than 6 months);
• Copy labor registration;
• Original Employer’s Declaration, completed and signed by employer²;
• If employer is a sole proprietor or private person, you must submit an original statement from the Tax Inspectorate of a fixed taxable income of at least Ang. 36.000, = from 2 years ago;
• Original guarantee declaration³, fully completed and signed by employer with an adhesive stamp of Ang. 10,=;

Change of permit with work ban

Do you have a permit which indicates that you are not allowed to work, but you are now going to work?

Then you must submit the following requirements:

• Proof of payment Fees & Retributions⁰ (show original for inspection);
• Copy of valid passport (if several nationalities, copy of all passports);
• Copy of current permit;
• Copy of valid employment permit or proof of application and proof of payment;
• Copy extract from the Chamber of Commerce (not older than 6 months);
• Copy labor registration;
• Original employer’s declaration completed and signed by employer with a copy of identification document of employer²;
• If employer is a sole proprietor or private person, you must submit an original statement from the Tax Inspectorate of a fixed taxable income of at least Ang. 36.000, = from 2 years ago; 
• Original guarantee declaration³, fully completed and signed by employer with an adhesive stamp of Ang. 10,=; 
• Employee’s CRIB-number (Tax Registration Number) 

If you have completed your study and are now going to work, you must also submit a copy of your diploma in addition to the mentioned requirements.

Sole proprietorship

FIRST APPLICATION

• Copy of the Labor register;

• Reference letter of the bank. Submit original.
