If you plan to live in Curaçao and live on your interest, you must apply for a residence permit as a rentier.
Are you planning to enjoy your retirement in Curaçao?
Then you have to submit an application for a residence permit with the purpose of retired.
As a retired person you can also apply for the “penshonado arrangement”. For more information about the “penshonado arrangement”, you should contact the Ministry of Finance.

An application for renewal can be submitted from 4 months before the expiry date.

SUBMITTING THE APPLICATION
Before submitting the application, make sure you have collected all the requirements. If so, the application can be submitted. All requirements must be scanned in PDF format. Click here to submit the application.
DECIDING ON YOUR APPLICATION
After the application has been submitted, the Admission Office has 4 months to take a decision on your application. You must await the decision on a first application abroad. After the decision is ready, it will be e-mailed to you.
If you have received a positive decision, you must make an appointment to receive the residence permit. Click here to make the appointment.
If you have received a negative decision, you then have 6 weeks to submit a notice of objection. The notice of objection must be e-mailed to info@immigrationcur.org.

FIRST APPLICATION
Are you going to submit a first application with the purpose of rentier?
Here you will find the requirements for submitting a first application with the purpose of rentier.
- Proof of payment⁰ Fees & Retributions (show original for inspection);
- Copy of valid passport (if several nationalities, copy of all passports);
- Copy of birth certificate¹ (not older than 1 year). Show original for inspection;
- Declaration of good conduct from the last place of residence (not older than 3 months). Submit original;
- An original declaration from the bank stating that the applicant has sufficient financial means to support himself and his family⁴.
COSTS
Fees and retributions are due before submitting the application. For the first application, you have to pay an amount of Ang. 635,=. Payment must be made at Maduro & Curiel’s Bank. On the payment order, you can find the necessary information to make the payment.

RENEWAL
Do you have a residence permit with the purpose of rentier that has to be renewed?

CHANGE
Are you no longer going to work and you become a rentier?
Then you must submit the following requirements:
- Proof of payment Fees & Retributions⁰ (show original for inspection);
- Copy of valid passport (if several nationalities, copy of all passports);
- Copy of current permit (decree and seal);
- A declaration from the bank stating that the applicant has sufficient financial means to support himself and his family⁴;

⁰When paying, the following details of the applicant must be stated as a reference:
- full first and last name
- date of birth
¹Depending on the country of birth/recognition/marriage, the birth certificate/deed of recognition/ marriage certificate should be legalized or apostilled. EU-countries are exempted from this.
²If the employer does not fall under Article 1, paragraph a LTU, submit copy valid Declaration Niet van Toepassing/ Declaration Van Rechtswege/ residence permit and copy of valid passport.
³If guarantor (person or is a sole proprietor) is married, the partner should also sign the guarantee declaration and submit a copy of his/her valid ID.
⁴Standard amounts of sufficient financial resources with regard to family with a Dutch citizen: For spouse if the applicant can demonstrate at least Ang. 1,500,= gross per month. In case of the admission of children5, the following standard amounts must also be demonstrated:
Age: 0 to 5 years Ang. 250,= per child
6 to 11 years Ang. 350,= per child
12 years and older Ang. 500,= per child
⁴Standard amounts of sufficient financial resources with regard to family with foreigner:
For spouse if the applicant can demonstrate at least Ang. 3.000,= gross per month. In case of the admission of children5, the following standard amounts must also be demonstrated:
Age: 0 to 5 years Ang. 250,= per child
6 to 11 years Ang. 350,= per child
12 years and older Ang. 500,= per child
⁵If the application is only for children; the first child will take the partner’s place in terms of standard amount.

If you are going to invoke the penshonado arrangement, you will also need the following document:
- An original statement from a locally established accountant or audit firm.
